Musical with M-U-T and H-E-R-Z

Premiere at the State Theatre on Gärtnerplatz before the big renovation, the Norwegian musical Homeless family sat, once again a highlight in the current season. The Young Theatre at Gärtnerplatz, jtg briefly worked together with the senior theater group and soloists of the ensemble, directed by Holger Seitz, a fascinating and moving evening.

Little Charles Milligan is after the death of his father's sole heir, but there's Uncle James, who has his eye on title and estate. What could be more natural than to disappear let's nephew? He instructed the rogue couple Maggie and Harry Driscoll so. This let the boys alive because they want to use it later as a basis for blackmail, and bring him to France. He grows up under the name of Remi and at the age of eleven years, sold by his foster father to the Barbarian Juggler Father Vitalis. Here you will find a new home Remi, Vitalis father until the winter freeze miserably. Lady Milligan, his mother crossed, meanwhile, James' plans, because she gave her husband posthumously another son, Arthur. He should now disappear, and again the crooks engaged couples. In the end, of course, there is a happy, Mom is reunited with her two sons and the evil is behind bars. Of course, the libretto by Øystein Wiik is a bit abstruse, but the implementation I find exciting and well made. The melodies are catchy and catchy Gisle Kverndokk fit. At times I felt reminded of Sweeney Todd.

The set design by Herbert Buck Miller is extremely versatile. Two sliding platforms and stairs can always be reassembled and symbolize a river as well as a marketplace. A notable example I found the scene in the pit, the atmosphere among the locked one could almost touch the hands, and the forest scenes. The costumes by Julia Miller and Barbara Buck Kloos suggest a story set in Victorian England, and are very successful, especially the wolves with glowing eyes, that was scary. Whether the musical is really suitable from 8 years, I can not judge, but I know quite well as older children that cope not the death of three beloved characters easily.

The presentation by Holger Seitz is characterized mainly by very good people directing. Professionals and amateurs are almost indistinguishable from each other. The choreography (Fiona Copley / Holger Seitz) is well rehearsed and works perfectly. The jtg and stg are mainly the choir, as well as smaller roles are filled from the ranks of jtg soloist. Sun shine Anna Fleck, Cornelius Carstens, Constantine Parnian and Florian Beier as a farmer, monk, and police inspector. A special position is occupied by the three animals, Constanze Zemira horns as a dog, a monkey Bernardo Maric Janko and Christoph Vandory dog as Brio. Although you have no text, but these animals play with a lot of realism in terms of sounds and movements. The class is really made. Nadine Spegel liked me as a second-born son, Arthur, very good, with good stage presence, she was a 10-boy very credible export overseas. In particular, the representational side, it had done to me even with Giulia Goldammer as Remi. She drew an emotional portrait of the abandoned boy.

Wonderfully oblique Milica Jovanovic and Mario were a crook Podrečnik couple Driscoll, here Klemm. Sebastian Campione as Father Vitalis sang small harp playing incredibly touching and showed throughout the evening, that he is also a vested musical talent. The surprises of the evening for me were, however, as Franziska Rabl Lady Milligan and Daniel Fiolka as James Milligan. The musical was at best is a shame that we both could not even look at other pieces. Rotraud Arnold, Hans Kittelmann and Holger Ohlmann also impressed in various, sometimes very different roles. Overall, we could have hoped practically no better ensemble for this piece.

The band consisted almost entirely of students of the Pestalozzi-Gymnasium and the Municipal School of Music in Munich, only Quirin Willert on the trombone and the musical director Liviu Petcu are professionals. They did their job very well rounded, and from this great night fantastic. A very successful culmination of five years working on youth Gärtnerplatztheater.

Unfortunately, the musical is only twice, at 23.3. and at 27.3. each clock at 19.30, students 30 years 8 € payable on all seats, tickets online at the usual ticket outlets, not discounts.
